Fire can be a powerful tool to enhance your spiritual practice. A Fire Cleansing Ceremony releases unpleasant memories, fears, low emotions, and anything you are holding onto that no longer serves you.
The flames can purify your regrets, emotional wounds, and bad habits, helping you heal deeply. At the same time, your intentions get a boost as you relinquish them over to Spirit.
When To Do a Fire Cleansing Ritual
Fire Cleansing is great at the change of seasons, during a Full Moon, and ringing in the New Year. It can also be done any time you need clarity or to shift your energy.
What Do You Need For Fire Cleansing
First, gather your fire cleansing materials:
- Paper
- Pen
- Source of fire (matches or lighter)
- Fire resistant container such as a metal bowl, firepit, BBQ grill, or even a candle.
- Extinguisher, hose, or jug of water to put out the fire.
Next, you’ll need to ground yourself. This is important before doing any ritual work. Close your eyes and take several deep breaths. Plant your feet on the ground. Imagine you are a tree and your roots are growing deep into the earth. Feel yourself tethered to the earth. You are safe and secure now.
After you have established your stance, do some self-reflection and write down or draw what you want to manifest. Do you desire a fulfilling career? A love partner? Your life’s purpose?
Also write down what you would like to release. It could be something you are worried about, negative habits or thoughts, someone whose energy you no longer want around you.
I usually like to write or draw a single thing on a single piece of paper so each thing I am focusing on is on it’s own sheet. This way, each item is a mini ceremony unto itself. You can burn photos, cards, documents, etc. Just use common sense and avoid throwing glass or anything flammable into the fire.
